Time Travel Tuesdays: Over the Rainbow

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

When Kip walks through the rainbow portal, he discovers a vastly different, Utopian future.

Multi-colored trees, butterflies everywhere, rainbows stretching across the sky, and giant flowers, which provide the dew that keeps everyone happy. Kip decides to investigate a flower…

Wait, Kip… I don’t know if shaking it is a good idea.

See… what did I tell you?

Don’t make that face. You did it to yourself.

Why not just harvest dew from the flower, like all the “normal” people do.

After messing around with flowers, Kip goes to the main square. The effect of the happy-land is everywhere he looks.

Everyone struts around with this strange half-dance walk.

People air-emote when talking…

Children are often found playing in all sorts of strange colors…

And, it’s considered manly to give yourself hugs. 🙂

Best of all, Kip discovers that the statue honoring the Pioneer of Plumbotics now displays an image of himself!

While it’s been fun to learn about the future and experiment with the technology, Kip decides it’s a good time to go home. The future reflects in lovely colors under the rainbowed sky, and he knows that he’s brought a strange sort of happiness to his future family.

Thanks for everyone who’s read through this series as I’ve been posting it! For now, I don’t have any more Sims 3 adventures stashed away. But I’m looking forward to Sims 4, and might write something like this again, once that’s released!

Time Travel Tuesdays: Changing the Future one Laugh at a Time

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

So Emit and Kip conspire to create a happyland utopia style future.

The first thing Emit needs Kip to do is to scan sims as they laugh and measure their cheerfulness. Not quite sure what the results will lead them to, but…

Wait. It starts raining and Emit’s hologram pulls out an umbrella? Uh-huh.

Kip sets out to take the data from his unknowing family members when they laugh. NaTu…

Then he brings the results back to Emit. It’s time to conduct another test… this time, Kip has to do it on himself!

Emit gives him three bottles of Mysterious Black Dew, and asks Kip to test this concoction of happiness on himself. So, Kip decides to do the dew…

And while it doesn’t have any adverse effects, it does turn him a shade of bright green.

Emit seems pleased with these results, but requests even more data. This time, he wants Kip to use the dew on other sims to see what will happen.

So… yet again with his unassuming poor family… first Fang…

Then NaTu…

Omakyn doesn’t escape the dew, either. At least he got purple.

And finally, Sammy… who doesn’t seem to pay any attention to it at all.

This gives Emit the data he’s looking for. Next, he asks Kip to take an aerosol version of the dew to the Military Base and have them spread it into the atmosphere. Now, I’m not quite sure how Kip managed to pull this off, but he did it anyway.

Once that was complete, Kip noticed that the future portal is now shining with a strange, rainbow light! It worked! Now, just wonder what the new future will look like!

Time Travel Tuesdays: Building Better Plumbots

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

It’s spring time again, and that means lots of rain and puddles. Fang seems to be enjoying her time in the future, much the same way she’d enjoy it in the past.

Meanwhile, good weather means that Kip’s out searching for nanites for more bot building. He spends a LOT of time out in the wasteland collecting the little mechanic beasties.

But it’s worth it. After a lot of time and hard work, Kip finally maxes his bot building skills!

While there’s no more long bot building hours for him, he has a new aspiration — he wants to become the Pioneer of Plumbotics. This will earn him a legacy statue (rather than the guy who is currently there) in his honor if he does. He’s such a show-off.

To do this, Kip must travel back to the past and create a special plumbot. This plumbot must be of Future Tech Quality and have a Sentience Trait Chip installed. With all of Kip’s hard work, he was already able to create the trait chip, and he was fairly certain he could make the bot.

So, it’s time for them to return to the past… where he sets up his own bot building station in the back yard. There, he creates the bot with the specialized requirements to earn the legacy title.

Before Kip can enjoy his victory, however, Emit appears in a flash of hologram light!

Kip’s surprised (though he shouldn’t be), and worried that something he’s done has caused unexpected trouble for the future. Talking with Emit, he discovers this isn’t the case… yet. But Emit wants it to be!

Emit asks Kip to help him change the path of the future to a happyland utopia. This sounded like a good idea to Kip. so he agreed to help.

Time Travel Tuesdays: Snowman Situation

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

Note: This was all completely autonomous – I did not instruct my Sims to do any of these actions!  That’s what makes it so funny! 🙂

Fang decided to build a snowman. That was totally normal and acceptable.

Later that night, Kip must have been impressed by Fang’s snowman because he decided to build his own.

A few hours later, Fang comes outside and notices Kip’s cheap knock-off of her snowman.

This didn’t sit well with her… so she tore Kip’s snowman down…

And then proceeded to add insult to injury by building a second snowman next to its remains.

Even later that night, Kip came out to see the damage done to his snowman.

This means war!

Not only did he knock Fang’s new snowman down…

…He then sealed his dirty work with an ironic snow angel!

Fang’s original snowman remained unscathed until the spring rolled in and melted it.

And that was the end of the snowman wars. I swear, these two shouldn’t be allowed in the same house together!

Time Travel Tuesdays: A Place of Their Own

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

After spending so long in the community housing of the Future, Kip is getting a little stir crazy. There’s always tons of tourists, way too many plumbots, noises, messes, and very little privacy for smooching with Fang.

Finally, after convincing Fang that people back home don’t even realize that they are gone (time travel freezes time in the past), Kip takes her around to look at houses in the future.

They don’t have a ton of money, so they buy what they can afford. It’s enough for them… and they do a little house warming with a smooch. 🙂

Though it doesn’t have any futuristic thingamajigs, Fang really loves the lighting!

It’s a perfect place to indulge in some of her bookworm tendencies and relax after all the crazy time traveling.

Kip realizes that there’s no futuristic food synthesizer in this house… which means when he’s hungry, he has to cook food the old fashioned way!

All was well in the house for a time. Until the snowman showdown began…

Time Travel Tuesdays: Learning to Fly

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

Despite the snowy weather, Kip takes Fang out early one morning to teach her the basics of jetpack flight.

To be expected, she has a shaky beginning…

But she catches on pretty quickly.

She actually seems to enjoy the experience.

Very soon, Kip joins her in the air.

Then, things turn romantic, as they always tend to with these two.

Look at these love birds! Sky waltzing with the jetpack!

All in all, the first jetpacking lesson went over well. Kip even earns some romance points!

Next Episode: Settling in for the Winter

Time Travel Tuesdays: Winter Comes

-A playthrough of Sims 3: Into the Future with Wayrift characters-

So, winter comes to the future, transforming the city of technology with a layer of peaceful snow.

For Fang, this seems like a good enough time as any to take a break and relax. Too much excitement isn’t good for anyone… even her.

That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t spend some time doing something enjoyable, though.

Meanwhile, the snow isn’t keeping Kip from working on his high tech skills and learning how to better control his jetpack.

He knows that he has to work hard on it… because that night, he plans on teaching Fang how to fly!
